Advanced stats: a point that doesn’t quench the thirst

STATS DC

The sense of disappointment was clearly visible in the Impact’s locker room on Saturday night, after the players put in a mixed performance in a 1-1 draw against D.C. United. But at the end of the day, when looking at results from the Impact’s direct rivals in the race for a playoff spot, this point at home doesn’t seem too shabby: the Revs were unable to beat Orlando in Florida, bringing home just a point from the Sunshine State, TFC tied in Atlanta, while Philadelphia and Chicago both suffered losses out West, to Portland and Salt Lake City respectively.

The picture therefore stays somewhat the same in the Eastern Conference. The Impact is fifth, with the same point total as the New England Revolution, and two points in front of Philly. Rémi Garde’s men will have to dictate proceedings in the last 10 games in order to earn their place in the fall tournament. The club’s three next games – in Salt Lake City next Saturday, against the Chicago Fire on Saturday, August 18 at Stade Saputo (TICKETS) and in Toronto for what should be a heated rivalry game, especially considering the circumstances, on Saturday, August 25 at BMO Field – should clear things up. Here are this week’s advanced stats.

Saphir Taïder: 1 shot, 40 successful passes, including 11 in the final third, for a 91% success rate, 4 chances created, 5 duels won, 2 tackles won, 2 interceptions, 3 clearances, 5 recoveries, 71 touches.

Rudy Camacho: 1 shot, 56 successful passes, including 5 in the final third, for an 88% success rate, 1 duel won, 1 tackle won, 5 interceptions, 9 clearances, 82 touches.

Nacho Piatti: 3 shots, 1 on target, 25 successful passes, including 12 in the final third, for a 93% success rate, 2 chances created, 4 dribbles completed, 8 duels won, 2 tackles won, 2 interceptions, 7 recoveries, 54 touches.

Evan Bush: 4 saves, 18 successful passes for a 64% success rate, 1 chance created, 1 clearance, 38 touches.
