Saturday’s game against New England saw the Bleu-blanc-noir experience its worst loss this season at the hands of the New England Revolution, but don’t let the result fool you: The Impact played a man down for just over 75 minutes after its designated player, Saphir Taïder, was sent off by referee José Carlos Rivero. Despite having started the game on the right foot, New England, a team that is good at putting pressure on its opponent, managed to slowly breakdown an Impact defense that had allowed no goals in its last two games, but that felt the pressure of being at a disadvantage.
The Bleu-blanc-noir tried to claw its way back into the game even after conceding a goal. Evan Bush made a penalty save close to halftime that gave the Impact’s players a little extra jump in their step but New England’s attacking waves were a little too much to handle, despite a good effort put forward by the Impact and key saves made by Evan Bush.
