For its opening match at Stade Saputo last Saturday, CF Montréal beat FC Cincinnati 2-1, an important victory in an amazing atmosphere that will be followed by many more. What a night!
Despite the difficult weather conditions, Stade Saputo was jampacked for the kick-off of the seventh match of the 2024 MLS season, the first home match after six consecutive road games.
For this first sold-out game, the Bleu-blanc-noir scored twice (including Josef Martínez's first goal at Stade Saputo, see our detailed article on the match) and picked up three precious points in the Eastern Conference standings (see standings).
Against a higher-ranked opponent and last season's conference finalists, our players outdid themselves in a match that will go down in history, as Laurent Courtois made his first appearance as head coach on Canadian soil.
Great atmosphere at Saputo Stadium
Loud cheers from the fans, from the start of the match to the last minute of added time, carried our team to victory, the Club's third in MLS this season. While there's nothing more beautiful than a full house at Stade Saputo, this victory also belongs to you, the twelfth man in the stands. It was a reward for all those who had taken their seats that evening, despite the inclement weather, in our fortress at Stade Saputo. BRAVO and THANK YOU for your unconditional support!
