MONTRÉAL – As the MLS regular season is currently on pause for the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup™, several CF Montréal players have been called up to represent their respective national teams during the upcoming international window:
Defender Alexandr Guboglo and forward Owen Graham-Roache, both products of the Club’s academy, have been selected by Canada’s U20 national team for the Maurice Revello Tournament, taking place from May 26 to June 14. They will also be joined in the squad by former academy players, including midfielder Jesse Saputo (Bologna FC) and defender Félix Samson, currently on loan to FC Cincinnati.
Venezuela has called up midfielder Wikelman Carmona for its next training camp. The Venezuelan national team will notably face Turkey on June 6 in Miami (Florida, USA) and Iraq on June 9 in Chicago (Illinois, USA).
Defender Efraín Morales has been called up to the Bolivia national team for two matches against World Cup-qualified nations: on Saturday, June 6 against Scotland and on Wednesday, June 10 against Algeria.
Goalkeeper Thomas Gillier has been called up by Chile from May 26 to June 10 and will take part in two friendlies: June 6 against Portugal in Lisbon and June 9 against the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Cádiz, Spain.
Dagur Dan Thórhallsson has been selected by the Icelandic national team from May 26 to June 10, with two scheduled matches: May 31 against Japan in Tokyo and June 9 against Argentina in Auburn, Alabama (USA).
Guatemalan midfielder Olger Escobar will join his national team from June 1 to June 11 for three friendlies in the United States against World Cup-qualified nations: June 4 against Czechia in Harrison, New Jersey; June 7 against Ecuador in Columbus, Ohio; and June 11 against Austria in Pasadena, California.
Finally, midfielder Hennadii Synchuk has received his first call-up to Ukraine’s senior national team. He will join the squad from May 27 to June 8 and is set to play two friendlies: May 31 against Poland in Warsaw and June 8 against Denmark in Odense.
Return to competition on July 8
CF Montréal will resume action in the first leg of the 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship quarterfinals on Wednesday, July 8 at 10:00 p.m. at Willoughby Community Park Stadium in Vancouver against Vancouver FC. The return leg will take place four days later, on Sunday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Stade Saputo.
