MONTREAL – Major League Soccer today announced details of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, marking the league’s transition to a new summer‑to‑spring calendar aligned with the world’s top soccer leagues. Here are the details:
- Schedule
The sprint season will include a 14-game regular season, played from February to April, followed by the MLS Cup Playoffs and MLS Cup. The regular season will consist of intra-conference play with teams facing each of their 14 conference opponents one time, seven home and seven away.
- Playoffs
At the conclusion of the regular season, 16 teams will qualify for the 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs — the postseason will be contested in a single-elimination format, culminating in MLS Cup. The 2027 Sprint Season will determine qualification for the 2028 Concacaf Champions Cup and 2028 Leagues Cup.
- New Competition Calendar for 2027-28
