Last Sunday, the U15 and U17 Impact teams hosted the Metropolitan Oval Academy, from New York, at Centre Nutrilait.
Both teams came out with the victory, the Impact U15 winning 5-1 and the Impact U17 7-1.
Impact U15 is on a roll
Serge Dinkota’s players quickly took the lead in this game. In the 6th minute, Renaud Caron found Jordan Therrien in the box, who took a quick shot that deflected off a defender and found its way to the back of the net. Five minutes later, Charles-Étienne Volcy doubled the Bleu-blanc-noir’s lead with a shot from the left flank that went over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
The Impact kept controlling the play and getting the best chances, but it was Met Oval that scored next. The opposing striker received the ball behind the defenders before beating goalkeeper Matisse Hébert with a low shot.
The second half, however, was all in Montreal’s favour. Nathan Saluba scored with a low, accurate shot from outside the box in the 55th minute after receiving a back pass from Jordan Therrien.
Substitute Jean-Aniel Assi then added two goals as time was winding down to make it 5-1, helping the Impact U15 remain unbeaten this season after eight games with a 7-0-1 record.
Plethora of goals for the Impact U17
With its 7-1 win, the Impact U17 scored its highest total of goals in a game this season.
Just like our younger squad, Nicolas Gagnon’s players quickly took a two-goal lead. Jérémie Omeonga scored after receiving a pass from Matthew Catavolo, followed by a goal from Connor Manuel, assisted by Oscar Marshall.
Catavolo also scored in the 37th, right before halftime.
In the second half, Oscar Marshall added his name to the scoring sheet when he entered the box on the right flank after receiving a nice pass from Junior Kabwe.
Then, substitute Abdul Binate scored a brace on passes from Catavolo and Kabwe.
Met Oval reduced the gap with a goal of its own, but Rida Zouhir scored from 25 metres out with a strong and precise shot into the right corner to make it 7-1 in stoppage time.
The team remains first in the Northeast division and breaks into the league’s top 10 with a 6-2-0 record.
Next games
The three Development Academy Impact teams will be in action this Sunday, November 4, at Centre Nutrilait, against Boston Bolts.
The U15 will be in action at 10am, the U17 at 12:30pm and the U19 at 3pm. The games are open to the public and they will be the last ones from the Impact teams at home before the Winter break.
