MONTREAL, Quebec – For the first time of their career, defender Kai Morton and midfielder Kevin Luarca of the Montreal Impact U21 team have been invited to the U20 Canadian national team camp that began yesterday in Florida.
Defender Hugo Lapointe-Sénécal also received an invitation, but was unable to attend due to school commitments.
The camp will include a pair of games versus Trinidad and Tobago, on September 9 and 11, and training will go until September 12.
This is the second such camp for the Canadian national team in preparation for the CONCACAF U20 Championships, scheduled for February 18 to March 3, 2013, in Mexico. Four of the 12 teams participating in this tournament will qualify for the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup, in Turkey.
Canada has called 11 of its 20 players from the four professional teams in Canada (Edmonton, Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto).
