MONTREAL – Toronto FC won the third edition of the International U14, presented by the Fédération des producteurs d’oeufs du Québec, on Sunday, at Centre Nutrilait, winning the final 1-0 against Bologna FC.

Shayan Soltanzadeh scored the only goal in the 37th minute of the game to help the Reds win the game.

“We dug deep and stuck together during the tournament,” said Toronto FC’s player Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty. “We don’t face MLS teams often, so it was a good challenge for us.”

It was Toronto’s first presence at the International U14. The team follows in the footsteps of the New England Revolution, who won the 2017 edition and D.C. United, who won the tournament in 2016.

Bologna FC’s player Andrea Mazia was named MVP of the tournament. With three goals scored, he was also the Best Scorer, tied with Hugo Mbongue from Toronto FC, Wyatt Borso from the Chicago Fire and Jean-Aniel Assi from the Montreal Impact.

The Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina was named Best Goalkeeper of the event and his team won the Fairplay award.
