Last Saturday, the New England Revolution Academy teams were at Centre Nutrilait to face their Impact counterparts in the Development Academy. The Bleu-blanc-noir won the three meetings of the day.
A revenge for the U15s
On June 30, New England beat the Impact 3-0 in the International U14 quarterfinals. Serge Dinkota and his team wanted to put this performance behind them, and that’s what they did after winning the game 3-0 against the 2017 International U14 champions.
After many chances in the first 30 minutes of the game, Matthew Catavolo was the first player to score with a shot across goal inside the box, adding to his good performance of the previous week when he scored a hat trick against Empire United.
The score remained the same until the 62nd minute, when Jean-Aniel Assi, who just entered the game as a substitute, took advantage of a bad back pass by the defender to take the ball, dribble around the goalkeeper and make it 2-0.
In stoppage time, Tomas Giraldo scored the third goal on a penalty.
“I’m proud because at the International U14, we lost by the same score, but we protected our turf today with a good win without conceding,” said defender Julien Bourassa. “We came into the game really strong and built up in their zone.”
Impact U17 bounces back with a win
Following its first loss of the season against Empire United, by a 1-0 score, last week, the Impact U17 found its attacking bearings, winning 5-2 against the Revolution at Centre Nutrilait.
Woobens Pacius was dominant in the game, scoring a hat trick and adding an assist.
His first goal came from a header after a corner kick in the beginning of the game. He added his second goal in the 26th minute, when he took a loose ball in front of the box and scored with a low and precise shot. Two minutes later, Pacius passed to his teammate Mouhamadou Kane as they were alone against the goalkeeper. The latter finished the action.
Just before halftime, midfielder Calin Calaidjoglu scored the fourth Bleu-blanc-noir goal on a loose ball in the box.
In the beginning of the second half, Pacius completed his hat trick with a precise shot.
New England scored two goals afterwards, but the Impact U17 held on to get its second win this season.
“It went well, we did the actions we had to do. We practiced this all week and it helped us get the five goals,” said winger Woobens Pacius. “We were not satisfied of last week’s offensive performance so we had to give everything today.”
Impact U19 follows up with its third win
It took about thirty minutes for the Impact U19 to start dominating the game offensively; the result was a 5-2 win.
In the 34th minute, Raphaël Garcia passed to Clément Bayiha in his run, in the box. The Montreal winger finished the action with a low shot to open the score. A few minutes later, Vincent Lamy scored on a low shot, again on a pass from Garcia, who added a third assist in the first half when he crossed the ball to Protais Mutambala, who scored his first goal of the game with a header.
In the second half, Bayiha and Mutambala both scored their second goals of the game, making it 5-0.
The Bleu-blanc-noir lost some pace in the last 20 minutes of the game and New England took advantage of it, scoring two goals.
“It was a game for first place. We knew they had three wins in their first three games,” said defender Raphaël Garcia. “We were solid defensively and offensively. We gave up two goals that we shouldn’t have in the end, but overall it was a really good game.”
Next games
The Impact U15 will be the only team in action this Saturday, at Centre Nutrilait, at 10am. Serge Dinkota’s team will host Cedar Stars Academy and will aim to remain unbeaten this season. The three Impact teams in the Development Academy will then host Oakwood Soccer Club on Saturday, September 30, at Centre Nutrilait.
