Three things you need to know

CD FAS 3 Stories 20 Aout

The Impact may not have scored as many goals as they would have liked in its opening game of the CONCACAF Champions League against C.D. FAS, but after playing the final 25 minutes a man-down, the bleu-blanc-noir held on to a 1-0 victory. That’s three points in the bank.

Here are three things you need to know about the second game of the group stage this Wednesday at 10pm (TVA Sports, Sportsnet) :

  1. The club normally plays its home games at Estadio Óscar Alberto Quiteño, a 15,000-seat stadium located in Santa Ana, but the stadium does not meet CONCACAF standards. Therefore, the game will be held at Estadio Cuscatlán, a 53,400 seat national stadium in San Salvador, 70 km away from the club’s base.
  2. Defender Hassoun Camara will sit this game out as he was shown a red card at Stade Saputo two weeks ago and with a few injuries to the back line, the Impact will need solid performances from its younger players, including Wandrille Lefèvre, who was named Videotron Player of the game in IMFC’s win over the Chicago Fire last Saturday. Head coach Frank Klopas will also have to watch the game from the press box as he is suspended for that game as well.
  3. C.D. FAS will have their full roster so more options at its disposal this time around, as a number of players were left behind in El Salvador for the first meeting due to visa issues. However, the Impact will also have an added option in midfield with the arrival of Ignacio Piatti, who played his first minutes with the club versus the Fire.
