Three Academy players with Canada's U17 Team

Goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau (Candiac), defender Ismaïl Benomar (Laval) and newcomer Marco Lapenna (St-Léonard), a midfielder from the St.Leonard Soccer Club, have been invited.

“It’s always an honour to see our players selected to the national team,” said Philippe Eullaffroy, Academy head coach and director of player development. “These selections reinforce the work put in by these players with the Academy. A national team experience for these young players is an excellent stepping stone for their professional development. In the future, I hope to see more of our players selected to the U17 and U20 teams.”

Two friendly matches will be played in Florida, on October 26 and 28, against the US and two others are scheduled for October 31 and November 2, in Kingston, against Jamaica.

ACADEMY MEMBERS NOMINATED FOR LEAGUE AWARDS

Six members of the Montreal Impact Academy have been nominated for Canadian Soccer League (CSL) individual honours. Winners will be announced on October 31, during the championship final festivities.

Those nominated include midfielder Kevin Cossette (Most Valuable Player) goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau (Goalkeeper of the Year), defenders Bonheur Aubey and Karl Ouimette (Defender of the Year), midfielder Alessandro Riggi (Rookie of the Year) and Philippe Eullaffroy (Coach of the Year).

“Despite the fact that we missed the playoffs by two points, it’s nice to see that our opponents recognize the individual and collective qualities of our players and our team,” noted Eullaffroy. “This demonstrates that we are on the right track. It shows promise and is motivational for next season.”
