ST.CATHARINES 1 IMPACT U21 5

Midfielders Anthony Le Gall (5th), Bastien Bourgault (38th) and Wandrille Lefevre (45th), as well as forward Victor Ndiaye (31st) all scored in the first half. Lefevre scored his second goal of the game at the 49th minute. Le Gall also tallied two assists.



“I’m glad we won, but our attitude disappointed me,” said Impact U21 head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. “We did not capitalize enough given the number of opportunities we created. We stopped playing in the last 20 minutes, when we should have been using of this game in preparation for our next games, which will be more difficult.”



The Impact U21 took the lead at the 5th minute, when midfielder Anthony Le Gall, from the Impact first team, entered the 18-meter box and took a shot to the far post, beating St. Catharines goalkeeper Claudio Perri to his right.



St. Catharines tied the game at the 22nd minute on a goal from midfielder Matthew Caine, who beat a challenging Impact goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, before sliding the ball in a gaping net.



Forward Victor Ndiaye gave the lead back to the Impact at the 31st minute. Midfielder Wandrille Lefevre sent the ball on the right wing to Le Gall, who played a low cross to Ndiaye. Standing at the top of the six-yard box, Ndiaye beat opposing goalkeeper Calvin Rosario, who had entered the game at the 9th minute.



At the 38th minute of play, midfielder Bastien Bourgault received a high pass on the left wing from Lefevre, controlled it forward and beat St. Catharines goalkeeper to his left.



Just before halftime, Lefevre scored on a freekick from 20 meters out, beating the keeper with a low shot to his right.



The Impact U21 scored its fifth goal of the game at the 49th minute of play. Following a corner, Le Gall gave the ball to Lefevre who beat St.Catharines goalkeeper with a 25-meters shot in the upper corner.



The Academy will play its next game against the Mississauga Eagles FC on Saturday, September 24, at 1pm at Saputo Stadium. Fans can attend this game for a cost of $4 for adults and $2 for children.
