Montreal Impact President Joey Saputo released the following statement:
“I am very pleased that the situation concerning turbans has been resolved and that the suspension of the Federation has been lifted for the good of our sport. All parties involved have shown common sense and a spirit of collaboration in order to better define the rules to make sure they will be respected. I have always stated that soccer should be accessible to all and despite some criticism, I decided not to get overly involved publicly. As an organization, we preferred to discuss this issue directly with the Canadian Soccer Association and the Quebec Soccer Federation to assist actively in finding a solution as quickly as possible. Finally, following a number of different steps in the process, FIFA has clarified its position and we now have a clear regulation for all soccer entities in Canada.”
