MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that six players from the Academy have been invited by the Canadian Soccer Association for its U20 training camp in Toronto, from August 31 to September 5, at the Kia Training Ground.
Goalkeeper James Pantemis (previous club - Lakeshore), defenders Mouhamed Touré (previous club - Fabrose) and Thomas Meilleur-Giguère (previous club L'Assomption), midfielders Pierre Lamothe (previous club - Longueuil) and Tabla Jean-Yves Ballou (previous club - Panellinios) and forward Badreddine Boulajoul (previousclub - Monteuil) will be head coach Rob Gale’s camp.
“I’m really proud,” said Impact U18 head coach Jason Di Tullio. “The players deserve it. It’s important that these players live this experience. It’s also good for the club and the Academy to have players at this level. Now, they have to express themselves on the field and prove they can represent their country. Making the USSDA playoffs and playing at a high level helps a lot. It gives a good indication of where our players are.”
Midfielder David Choinière was also invited to camp, but will remain in Montreal to nurse a minor injury.
