Bleu-blanc-noir supporters have recently voted for the Club's Player of the Month for July and their choice was goalkeeper Sébastian Breza.
Breza, 28, joined CF Montréal in 2021 on a season‑long loan from Italian club Bologna FC. That season, he helped the team win the Canadian Championship. In January 2024, he was permanently transferred to the Club.
The goalkeeper stood out several times in July, during both the TELUS Canadian Championship quarterfinals and in MLS, as the Bleu-blanc-noir faced the top three teams in the Eastern Conference standings in succession (Nashville SC, Inter Miami CF, and the New England Revolution).
Breza notably made a decisive save late in the Aug. 1 match against the Revolution to help the Club secure a standings' point in an eventual 2-2 draw. The 2025 Jason Di Tullio Trophy (which recognizes grit and fighting spirit) recipient spoke about his composure in the post‑match press conference: “The role of goalkeeper is quite different from the rest of the team, a bit disconnected from the other 10 players because you have to be in your own bubble, and if you don’t have a save to make, you can’t help the team. So I wanted to get the crowd’s support. I wanted the fans to get behind us, to push the guys and give them energy.”
The Montréal goalkeeper thus succeeds Prince Owusu, winner of both April and May's Player of the Month award (the vote did not take place in June due to the World Cup).
