Admittedly, the 2014 regular season was a tough one for the Montreal Impact.
Despite a second straight Canadian title and a quarter-final appearance upcoming in the CONCACAF Champions League, IMFC managed just six wins in MLS, none of them on the road.
But what you might not know is that there is historical precedence within the league that you might find interesting.
There are five teams that have previously experienced a winless record on the road. All five teams have come back the following year with success, with four of those examples resulted in playoff appearances.
The mighty Galaxy was the first team to go winless on the road back in 2003 with a record of 0-9-6. LA followed that up with a second place finish in 2004 in the West with 43 points and a first round win in the playoffs.
In 2005, expansion side Real Salt Lake went 0-14-2 in what is the worst record on the road in MLS history, but the claret, cobalt and gold followed that up with a season in which the playoffs were just two points out of reach.
In the last six seasons, three teams went from zero wins away from home into playoff contentions the following year.
The Red Bulls went 0-13-2 in 2009 to first place in the Eastern Conference with 52 points in 2010 and a semi-final playoff appearance. Canadian cousins Vancouver Whitecaps FC went 0-12-5 in their expansion 2011 season, only to become the first Canadian team to qualify for the postseason the follow year in fifth place. Finally, last season, D.C. United had the worst record ever in the history of MLS, with just three wins total and a record of 0-14-3 on the road only to bounce back in 2014 to finish first in the Eastern Conference with 59 points.
So, after finishing the 2014 season with a record of 0-12-5 on the road, historical precedence dictates that the situation looks promising for the bleu-blanc-noir in 2015.
