MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact will kick off its MLS Reserve League season this Sunday, at Olympic Stadium against the New York Red Bulls, at 10:30am (ET). The game is open to the public and admission is free.


In 2012, the Impact finished tied with the Columbus Crew for the best record in reserve league action, going 7-2-1 in 10 games – good for 22 points – but, the Crew finished with the championship title on tie breakers.


SCHEDULE - 2013 RESERVE LEAGUE

Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush went undefeated in seven games, recording six wins, one tie and four shutouts, while allowing only four goals. Forward Andrew Wenger led the team with two goals and three assists in eight starts.


Reserve League 101

The Impact plays in the Eastern Conference of the Reserve League in 2013 along with the Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC.


Teams will play a total of 14 Reserve League games. The seven-team Eastern Conference will play a balanced schedule, facing their conference opponents twice, home and away, while playing two games against a USL Pro club.


Major League Soccer and USL PRO announced on January 23 a ground-breaking, multi-year partnership. Each of the 13 USL PRO teams will compete in two interleague games against MLS Reserve teams. All interleague games will count in both the official USL PRO and MLS Reserve League standings.


All players appearing on an MLS Club’s Official Roster may represent their team in MLS Reserve League play. However, no Player shall play more than 120 minutes in a Reserve Team Match and any preceding match that occurs within a 60 hour period. Further, no player shall play more than a combined total of 90 minutes in a Reserve Team Match and any preceding match that occurred within 36 hours prior to such Reserve Team Match.
