MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact’s U14 team will take part in a U15 National Identification Event organized by the Canadian Soccer Association in Toronto, from May 4 to May 8.

“What we want is to develop high level players and one of the keys is to have the best competition possible,” said Impact U14 head coach Nicolas Gagnon. “That’s what we will have while playing TFC, the Whitecaps and a CSA selection.

All three Canadian Major League Soccer teams from that age category will play in the event, in addition to a team made up of players not involved with any of these MLS teams.

“It’s important to control our principles during the majority of the time over the three games,” explained Nicolas Gagnon. “We have to be quick with our defensive transition, have the ball most of the time and be able to control the play.”

The Impact will play the CSA selection on Tuesday at 1:30pm, then Toronto FC Wednesday at 3:30pm – the same day the first team will play the Reds in the Canadian Championship – and finally the Vancouver Whitecaps on Friday at 1:30pm.

Games will be played at Toronto FC’s training facility, the Kia Training Ground.
