The Impact won their first exhibition match 3-1 against the Lac St-Louis Lakers senior AAA, last Saturday, at the Catalogna Soccerplexe in Lachine on goals by Eduardo Sebrango (29th), Antonio Ribeiro (55th) and Mauricio Vincello (61st).
Goalkeepers Greg Sutton and Andrew Olivieri played a half each.
The Impacts third and last pre-season game will be held in
Trois-Rivières on Sunday, against the Select AAA, at 2 pm. The Impact will kick off its 2005 season and defend its First Division United Soccer Leagues championship title with a double-header in Puerto Rico, against the Islanders, April 29 and May 1.
PLAYER NOTES:
>Twenty-one players are under contract with the Montreal Impact for the 2005 season.
>Two free agents that played with the Impact last year, goalkeeper Gerry Argento and defender Adrian Cann, are still trying to earn a spot with the team.
>Forwards Matt Palleschi and Nicolas Lesage, midfielder Alpha Bah and defender Aziz Ahmamad, are also trying to get make the team.
>Since the beginning of the training camp midfielders Nino Sansone and Julian Appiah, and forward Wyn Belotte were cut.
>Impact midfielder Zé Roberto is not at training camp since he is currently playing indoor with the Philadelphia Kixx. Forward Joel Bailey, who is currently in negotiation with the Impact, is with the Baltimore Blast.
>Defender Jason Di Tullio will not be part of the lineup since he is still recovering from an injury to his right knee.
COMMENTS:
Montreal Impact head coach Nick De Santis: I hope we are going to play a better game than we played last Saturday, especially in our finishing in front of the net. We have to use our offensive training to make progress during camp. A good rivalry tomorrow will help us perform better.
