MLS NEXT – week 12: One special point for Antoine

IMG_0379

Our two MLS NEXT squads were on the road on March 19 facing our rival team Toronto FC.

The U17s took a deserved draw, coming from behind twice with both goals coming from the bench. A performance dedicated to Antoine N’Diaye, our Canadian international midfielder, out for the rest of the season with a long-term knee injury. The U15s left Ontario with a defeat.

Maxime Leconte, U17 head coach: “It was a very interesting game, with good content. We got off on the right foot, but we conceded a goal due to mistakes on small details. The team reacted well at the beginning of the second half. The players followed the instructions well and we managed to put Toronto in a difficult position, showing their grinta and equalizing twice. We lacked maturity and experience at some point but it’s part of the learning curve at the higher levels. “

Esteban Landazabal, U15 head coach: “It was a very frustrating game even if the overall performance isn’t bad. We were good on the ball and created some nice chances. But again, we weren’t clinical enough in front of goal. Then, our opponent punished us on our mistakes, and we couldn’t do the same. The final score doesn’t reflect the way we played. We need to keep working and building on the positive aspects.“
