Marco Di Vaio - "We showed character after being a goal down"

Marco Di Vaio goal celebration vs Philadelphia Union

Italian forward, who confirmed his return with the Impact in 2014, ended his goal drought when he scored the equalizer -and his 20th of the season- against Philadelphia. Read his postgame reactions from Saturday's win.

On the importance of this result…

I think we all knew we couldn’t keep going like that after the first half. It was a last chance to show that we aren’t the team that’s struggled the last few games. We gave a lot on the field today and we played a great game.

“I am very happy, but our work here is not finished.”
- Marco Di Vaio

On scoring after a bit of a drought…

I am so happy to finally score again and help the team move up in the standings. We’ve had a tough stretch of five or six games, and to come out the way we did in the second half, after being a goal down, we showed character.

On whether he’s surpassed the number of goals he hoped to score this season…

A long time ago (smiles)! I am very happy, but our work here is not finished. It’s great for me to hit that plateau and it’s great for the team. But I’ve always said, if I score goals and we don’t win, then I’m not happy.
