MONTREAL – CF Montréal defeated the San Jose Earthquakes 3-0 in front of a 16th consecutive sold-out crowd at Stade Saputo on Saturday night.

With three MLS games remaining, the Bleu-blanc-noir is in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with 37 points. Montréal is tied on points with its rivals Toronto FC in 8th place and the Philadelphia Union in 9th, the last playoff spot. Toronto has played one more game than both Montréal and the Union.

After a scoreless first half, Josef MartĂ­nez scored two goals within four minutes.

The Venezuelan first opened the scoring in the 51st minute with a header off a corner, then completed his brace in the 55th minute with a shot from the top of the box. With his eight goals this season, Martínez moved into first place as the Club’s top scorer.

Caden Clark netted Montréal's third goal in the 72nd minute, his third goal in as many games at Stade Saputo.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois recorded his second consecutive clean sheet and seventh of the season.
