LOS ANGELES, CA – The Impact U18 will face the Chicago Fire in the USSDA semifinals this Thursday at 11pm (ET) at the StubHub Center, in Los Angeles.
The Impact won its quarterfinal game 3-1 on Tuesday, July 7, against Real So Cal, to qualify for the semifinals in Los Angeles. The Bleu-blanc-noir got two wins (3-2 against LA Galaxy and 2-1 against Kendall SC) and one draw (2-2 against the Philadelphia Union) in the playoff group phase to finish on top of their group.
If the U18 succeed this year, it will be thanks in large part to of the hard work that was put in all season long. The Impact faced many tough opponents this season, but managed to finish with a 22-2-2 record, good for first spot from a total of 77 teams in the USSDA.
“We prepare the same way every game,” said head coach Jason Di Tullio. “Now, we go to Los Angeles to represent the club, win this semifinal and have the chance to play for the championship."
The Chicago Fire finished 15th in the regular season with a 14-4-9 record. They won the quarterfinal game 4-3 against the Houston Dynamo last week.
The other two semifinalists are the San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake, and they will also face each other on Thursday.
On July 18, both winners will play for top spot in the USSDA.
