FRISCO, Texas – The Impact U17 won the Generation adidas Cup Premier Division third place final 3-2 against Mexican club CF Monterrey, Saturday afternoon in Frisco, Texas.
Monterrey quickly opened the scoring in the first minute of the game.
The Impact followed up with two straight goals. The first one came from Georges-Édouard Tissot on a pass from Jérémie Omeonga in the 7th minute. Moulay Abdallah Kanzi Belghiti then scored on his own penalty rebound in the 17th minute.
Back from the locker room, Monterrey equalized, but Georges-Édouard Tissot scored his second of the game in the 51st minute to give the lead back to the Bleu-blanc-noir, who held on until the end of the game.
Earlier this week, the Impact U17 lost 2-1 against the Seattle Sounders FC in the semifinals, after finishing first of its group in front of the Philadelphia Union, Club Tijuana and the Colorado Rapids.
Other tournaments
The Impact U15 saw its hopes of proceeding in the We Love Football tournament, in Bologna, end on Friday after losing 1-0 to Atalanta B.C., 1-0 to U.C. Sampdoria and 2-1 to Ajax Amsterdam.
For the Impact U14, Eduardo Sebrango’s team qualified for the round of 16 after its group games at the Tournoi Sans Frontière in Sens, France. The team won its first game 1-0 against AJ Auxerre on Friday, before losing 1-0 against Paris Saint-Germain. On Saturday, the team beat Toulouse FC 1-0 and lost 2-1 against Le Havre. The Impact U14 will face Juventus F.C. in the round of 16 on Sunday, at 6am.
