MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Thursday that its U15 team will participate in the We Love Football 2018 international tournament, in Bologna, Italy, from March 28 to April 2.
Head coach Serge Dinkota’s team will be in group D with Atalanta B.C. (Italy), AFC Ajax (Netherlands) and U.C. Sampdoria (Italy).
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for our boys to travel again to play in a high-level tournament,” said head coach Serge Dinkota. “This tournament gives us the chance to face great clubs. The goal remains to be competitive and display our qualities within our principles of play and our philosophy.”
The tournament will be played between 16 teams, split in four groups. Many renowned clubs from Serie A are also taking part in the competition, like Bologna F.C. 1909, FC Interazionale Milano, AS Roma and Juventus FC.
The competition will also regroup famous international teams like Everton F.C. (England), Flamengo (Brazil), SE Palmeiras (Brazil) and KRC Genk (Belgium), amongst others.
The group stage will be played from March 28 to 30, the knockout phase from March 31 to April 2, and the final on Monday, April 2, at 5am (ET), at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, Bologna F.C.’s famous stadium.
Serge Dinkota’s team plays yearly in the Development Academy and is currently tied for first place of its group with the New England Revolution, with eight wins and four losses.
