TSF U14

The Impact U14 had a great experience at the Tournoi Sans Frontière again this year. On Monday, Eduardo Sebrango’s team lost 2-1 against FC Nantes and finished 11th out of 25 teams but was still able to display its qualities against big European clubs through eight games in the span of four days.

The Bleu-blanc-noir’s journey started on Friday, in the city of Sens, in the department of Yonne, with a 1-0 win over AJ Auxerre in the group stage. It was followed with a 1-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, where the winning goal was scored off a direct free kick in the last minute of the game.

The day after, the Impact started on the right foot once again, with a 1-0 win against Toulouse FC, but lost its next game 2-1 against Le Havre. By finishing in the middle of its group, the Impact still managed to qualify for the round of 16 for a game against an impressive opponent, Juventus F.C.

On Sunday, against the Italian club, the Impact lost 3-0, but went on to win 5-4 in penalties after a 0-0 draw in the quarterfinal game for positions 9 to 16 against the Girondins de Bordeaux.

On Monday, Montreal lost 4-2 in penalties in the semifinal game against Zenit Saint Petersburg, after a scoreless draw in regular time. Right after, for its last game of the tournament, they lost 2-1 against FC Nantes to finish 12th overall in the Tournoi Sans Frontière.

It is a similar story to last year, when Serge Dinkota’s team finished 11th out of 24.
