Last week, the Impact U14 took part in a national identification camp organized by the Canadian Soccer Association in Toronto.
Nicolas Gagnon, U14 head coach, saw some good things during the camps, but also some aspects that need to be improved.
“The pace of the game was higher than we were used too,” explained Nicolas Gagnon. “We had a hard time adapting to the fast pace throughout the game.”
“We also had some good moments and we built with short plays and long switches down the flanks,” said Gagnon. “It’s also on our counter-attacks that we were able to threaten the goal regularly in behind the defenders. Now, we have to be able to repeat those good stretches to get better individually and collectively.”
For the Impact U14, it was a good opportunity to face other MLS Canadian teams, but also to compete at a high lever to evaluate where the team stands.
The next step for this group is a tournament in Portugal, starting June 30, where the team will play against strong international sides in their age category.

The Impact U18 earned a clean sheet against Everton FC Westchester with a 4-0 victory. Head coach Jason Di Tullio’s players are now first in the standing with a record of 17-2-2 and five games to play.
A similar result was in the cards for the U16s, topping Everton FC Westchester 5-2. With five games to go, they are still fighting for a playoff spot.
Both teams will be playing this Saturday on the synthetic field at Stade Saputo. The U18s are playing at 11am and the U16s at 1:30pm, with both games against the Philadelphia Union.
