The Impact returns to Sherbrooke July 8

"We are pleased to return to Sherbrooke again this year," said Montreal Impact head coach Nick De Santis. "The region’s hospitality and support are always tremendous. This event also fits in well with the team's mission that has always been to promote and develop soccer throughout the province. This is another occasion for the thousands of soccer fans in the area to get a closer look at our club.”

“We feel very privileged to host the Impact again this year”, said Sherbrooke University Athletics Assistant Director Jean-Pierre Boucher. “Since the beginning of this adventure, the team’s visit is an event organized in partnership with Soccer Estrie. Once again this year, the support of regional soccer clubs will help us to ensure the event’s success.”

Last year, on August 27, the Impact defeated the Virginia Beach Mariners 2-0 in front of 6,532 spectators, under pouring rain, at Sherbrooke University Stadium.

The Impact also shut out its opponent in two previous match-ups. On August 28, 2005, the Montreal blanked the Rochester Raging Rhinos 2-0, in front of 9,519 spectators. On August 22, 2004, for the club’s first-ever game in the region, 9,128 fans saw the Impact beat the Atlanta Silverbacks 1-0.

Playing a "home" game away from Claude-Robillard Stadium has become a tradition for the team, which has also played in Quebec City and Ottawa over the years. The Impact is unbeaten in 10 home games played away from Montreal (9-0-1).

Details relating to game festivities and tickets sales will be announced this spring.
