About BW Gottschee

BW Gottschee’s teams are regularly among the best in the league. The club was founded in 1951 by a group of Austrian immigrants who moved to Queens, New York, and wanted to find a piece of their homeland by founding a soccer club.

Since then, the club evolved from a senior team playing in elite North American soccer divisions in the ‘50s to a youth club that proved itself over the following decades.

Many players from this Academy had the opportunity to play professionally in North America and Europe. Among them is Timothy Weah, the son of George Weah. If the father was a highly decorated soccer player, winning a Ballon d’Or in 1995, and nowadays running to be the next Liberia president, Tim is also finding his own path as a soccer player. After playing with Gottschee, he joined the New York Red Bulls academy and later was recruited by Paris Saint-Germain. He also plays with the United States U17 team.
