MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced Friday that the club will hold a two-day tryout for its Under-21 team, on November 5 and 6, at Marie-Victorin Sports Complex, in Montreal.
Players born between 1992 and 1995, playing at the AAA level and interested in joining the Montreal Impact will get the chance to show off their skills for the club’s technical staff.
TRYOUT FOR SPORT-ETUDES PROGRAM
Tryouts for the Impact sport-études program, for players born between 1996 and 2000, will be held from January 3 to 7, 2012, also at Marie-Victorin Sports Complex.
“There are only two ways to integrate into the Impact Academy, either following recommendations from our scouts or by participating to these tryouts,” said Director of player development Philippe Eullaffroy. “This is a rare occasion for them to show us what they’ve got. It is also an important moment for our coaching staff to discover and evaluate local talent. We are mostly looking for the player’s long-term potential and not just their current training form. The final objective is to develop the best possible players to integrate into our MLS professional team.”
It is possible to register for the tryouts via edsimpactmontreal.com, in the recruitement section. Registration fees are $40.
RETURN GAME IN OTTAWA
The Impact U21 will play its decisive Canadian Soccer League (CSL) playoff quarterfinal game, this Sunday at 3pm, at Terry Fox Stadium, in Ottawa. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
In the first game of the home-and-away aggregate goal series, last Saturday in Montreal, the teams played to a 1-1 tie. Midfielder Wandrille Lefevre scored the lone Academy goal on a penalty.
“We want a positive result and reach the semi-final round, but we will play against an excellent Ottawa squad,” added Philippe Eullaffroy. “During the second half of the first leg, our players showed what to do to have success Sunday. Playing playoff games is essential for their development, because it is a superior level of play from all points of view, most notably physically and mentally.”
