While the first team put up a great performance against the New York Red Bulls at Stade Saputo last Saturday, the three Impact teams in the Development Academy played their first games of the season and collected the maximum amount of points possible, 15 points in five away games.
On Saturday, the Bleu-blanc-noir’s U15, U17 and U19 teams won 6-0, 3-2 and 3-1 respectively against FC Westchester’s teams at the Suny Purchase Grass Pitch, in the state of New York. The day after, the U15 and U17 Impact teams were still in action and won 3-2 and 3-0 against the Cedar Stars Academy, at the Capilli Sports complex, in New Jersey.
Avalanche of goals for the U15 team
With nine goals in two games, the efficiency in front of goal was on point for the start of the season. Even if it is a year of transition for this age group, since the Impact doesn’t have a team in the U14 category, Serge Dinkota was able to count on many players with USSDA experience that played with his team last year.
On Saturday, against FC Westchester, in a 6-0-win, striker Gabriel Antinoro, who scored 12 goals last year when playing with the team one year older, scored his team’s first three goals, and earned an assist on Maximilian Banfi’s goal.
Jordan Therrien and Adam Rodrigue scored the other two goals. Therrien also had two assists, just like his teammate Charles-Étienne Volcy.
The day after, against Cedar Stars Academy, Antinoro and Banfi scored a goal apiece again in a 3-2 win. Nathan Saliba scored the other Impact goal.
The Impact U17 earns six precious points
It’s a cliché in the sports world, but the points you lose early in the season often come back to haunt you when you get closer to the playoffs. Against FC Westchester, the Impact U17 was in difficulty, losing 2-1 late in the game. But the team found the energy and the skill to score two quick goals and win 3-2.
Georges-Édouard Tissot scored the first goal of the game, and Sean Rea and Rida Zouhir scored the two late goals.
On Sunday, in a 3-0 win, Sean Rea was involved in all three goals. He scored the first one and got the assist on the other two, scored by Mouhamadou Kane and Matthew Catavolo.
The Impact U19 wins a tough game
In a 3-1 win, Philippe Eullaffroy’s team quickly found the back of the net with two goals in the first six minutes, scored by Calin Calaidjoglu and Woobens Pacius.
It got more complicated after. The Impact wasted some chances, while FC Westchester scored.
Montreal took control of the game in the second half and Moulay Abdallah Kanzi Belghiti scored the insurance goal in the 93rd minute.
Next games
If the Impact started its season last weekend, it will now have the opportunity to play at Centre Nutrilait for the first time in this 2018-2019 season this Saturday, against Empire United’s teams.
The U15 will play at 10am, the U17 at noon and the U19 at 2:30pm. Games are open to the public.
