The international break gives us a bit of time to breathe a little, to come back on the last two months and the road travelled toward this Eastern Conference Final. The challenges the team has met have made it determined, confident, hard to beat. Time has come to reveal the IMFC Members’ Choice awards for the months of September and October.
September
The September player of the month, as chosen by 75% of voters, is left-back Ambroise Oyongo. In four games, the defender hailing from Ndikinimeki has shown why he has become a key element of the Montreal back four: four successful tackles, seven interceptions, six dribbles and 72% successful passes. Oyongo, who likes to drive forward, has also taken a total of five shots.
For the goal of the month award, 46% of respondents have set their heart on the nice exchange of passes by Mancosu and Piatti on the left wing against San Jose Earthquakes. Talent, lucidity and calm have allowed the two protagonists to finish this nice collective phase to which the player of the month Oyongo also contributed by pressing Wynne.
October
The month of October has been a real rollercoaster for IMFC supporters. Clinched a playoff spot, lost heavily in New England, before the phoenix rose from its ashes in Washington and went on to send the Red Bulls on holiday. Our members went for the only goal scored at home in the playoffs, Matteo Mancosu’s powerful half-volley raking in 78% of votes.
You should not be surprised by the name of the player of the month. 57% of members chose the one, the only, Nacho Piatti. Four goals, two assists, 14 shots, ten dribbles and 85% successful passes prove this award is well-deserved. When Nacho goes, anything goes.
