FC Montreal faces Orlando City B on Sunday

ORLvMTL Pre

MELBOURNE, Florida – FC Montreal continues its series of five straight games on the road, facing Orlando City B this Sunday at 7:30pm, at the Titan Soccer Complex.

In its last game, Montreal suffered a 2-1 defeat to Rochester. Charles Joly scored first, but the Rhinos came from behind to win the game with two quick goals from Christian Volesky.

“Last game was our best one on every level: defensively, in the consistency of our play throughout 95 minutes and with good chances offensively,” said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. “Despite the result, the players are quickly getting back in the right frame of mind and in the right path.”

This will be the first game between both USL teams. While Montreal has a 0-4-0 record, Orlando holds a 1-4-1 record with two more games played.

“We play for the win,” said defender Thomas Meilleur-Giguère. “I expect an open game since this is an offensive-focused team. I think we will be able to bounce back as a team.”

Winger Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla and forward Charles Joly are the two Bleu-blanc-noir players to have scored this season, with one goal each. Winger Alessandro Riggi also came back to play in the game against Rochester.

For Orlando, defender Tyler Turner is the top scorer of the team with two goals, as he scored a brace in the only win, over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. He was also named USL Player of the Week for this performance. The team has scored five goals in six games, but they also allowed 10 during these games.

“They have a really good forward and the USL Player of the Week,” added Eullaffroy. “It’s a team that plays with the ball and it might be the first team we face that plays short passes and combines in the centre. It’s a profile we have yet to meet this season.”

Again, first-team players may be available for the game depending on the playing time they need.

The next game will be played on Saturday, May 7, at 7pm, against the Charlotte Independence, at the Ramblewood Soccer Complex.
