If the Academy teams came back on the fields at Centre Nutrilait in August for training camp, it’s in September that the Development Academy season started for the U15, U17 and U19 teams.
This year, the three teams had strong starts to the season.
After a first month of competition, the Impact U15 has a record of five wins in five games. Serge Dinkota’s team scored 15 goals and gave up only two during the month. Matthew Catavolo stood out offensively with six goals, while players at the back also did an excellent job with three clean sheets in their last three games.
“The Development Academy is a championship where the teams are fighting until the last minute and the boys need to stay focused until the final whistle,” said Impact U15 head coach Serge Dinkota. “Beyond the results, the team showed good performances, but we will look to get to the next level in terms of rhythm, speed of play and efficiency in the application of our principles.”
As for the Impact U17, they suffered only one loss, in their only road game, but answered well at home with three wins. On the 11 goals scored, Woobens Pacius has seven, including two hat tricks in his last two games against the New England Revolution and Oakwood Soccer Club.
“We need to show more regularity at the highest level and we know this is what we will need to have a great season and be ready for the playoffs,” said Impact U17 head coach Nicolas Gagnon. “The players realize more and more what is required to go as far as possible individually and collectively.”
For the U19 team, efficiency at both ends of the pitch has been impressive in September. The team started strong with a 4-0 clean sheet win against FC Westchester and never slowed down, scoring 19 goals and allowing only three in four games. The offensive output came from all positions, with defenders, midfielders, wingers and forwards scoring goals. With its perfect record, the team is first of its group.
“It’s good and full of promises, but it’s on the long-term that we will be able to judge on the quality of a player and a team,” said Impact U19 head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. “This month of September needs to make us realize what we have to work on to progress and keep getting good results.”
The three teams will play their first game of October on Saturday, October 14, at Centre Nutrilait, against the teams from Beachside Soccer Club.
Impact U14 wins Mauro Biello Tournament
The U14 team, which doesn’t play in a regular championship, also got positive results in the Mauro Biello Tournament, played on September 30 and October 1.
The team won its six games; three group ones and three qualifying ones, to lift the trophy at Centre Nutrilait.
It was the third consecutive time that the Impact won the tournament.
