The Montreal Impact Academy found its new head coach for the U15 team. Dominique Morin, the former U21 Impact player from 2010 to 2014, will lead the Impact U15 into the second part of the Development Academy season.
Now 26 years old, Morin spent four years with the Montreal Impact U21 team. He went on to play with the Quebec Dynamo in PLSQ, before becoming head coach of the Dynamo’s reserve team. He also earned his UEFA B licence and his National B licence in the process.
“When I started coaching, I told myself that one day, I would like to come back to the Academy,” explained the new Impact U15 head coach Dominique Morin. “As a player, I had some of my best moments here and I think I can experience the same as a coach too. I didn’t think it would happen so fast, but everything fell into place. It’s with the objective of coming back to the Impact that I passed my UEFA B licence in Ireland.”
The coach from Quebec City is back in familiar territory, as he already knows the Academy director, Philippe Eullaffroy, who named him captain when he was playing under him in 2014. He also inherits the team that Patrice Bernier was coaching on an interim basis in the last few months.
“When I left in 2014, I didn’t know Patrice that much, but he still managed to help me get a tryout in Norway,” added Morin. “It’s funny to come back to Montreal and have him help me in the transition.”
The Impact U15 is currently first in the Northeast division with nine wins and two draws. The team will start the second half of the season on Saturday, March 16, at 10am, against the Boston Bolts, in Newton, Massachusetts.
