MONTREAL – CF Montréal’s U15, U16 and U18 boys’ teams will kick off their seventh MLS NEXT season when the Club’s Academy opens its 2026-27 campaign on Saturday at Centre Nutrilait. Each of the three teams host New England FC starting at 9 a.m. The regular season will feature 25 matches from September through May, including 16 home games, all of which will be open to the public and free of charge.
Pat Raimondo will temporarily serve as head coach of the U15 team while Sylvain Hascoët continues to support CF Montréal’s first team. Raimondo has led the Université de Montréal men’s soccer program for several years.
The Academy will once again take part in MLS NEXT’s major tournaments this season, including MLS NEXT Fest in Arizona (U15, U16 and U18), the Generation adidas Cup in Florida (U16 as well as U15 depending on their result at MLS NEXT Fest), and MLS NEXT Flex in Atlanta (U15, U16 and U18), which will serve as a qualifier for the MLS NEXT Cup playoffs at the end of the season.
“Player development remains at the heart of our work at the Academy,” said Academy Director Marinos Papageorgopoulos. “This year, 23 of our players were selected to represent the Canadian national team, in addition to one player joining the Guatemalan national team. These experiences allow our young players to test themselves in different environments, to compete alongside high-level players and continue their development. It is a great source of pride for everyone at the Academy to see nearly one-third of our players represent their country and to witness the work of our staff every day.”
The U14 team will also be in action this fall, playing home MLS NEXT matches against private academies throughout September, October and November.
