In the last few days, a few additional celebrities have confirmed their participation in the game: Montreal Canadiens player Alex Kovalev, boxing World Champion Lucian Bute, former speed skater Frédéric Blackburn, actor Éric Hoziel, musician Marc-André Paquet and host Jean-Marie Lapointe.
Fans will also see former Impact players Patrick Diotte, John Limniatis and Lloyd Barker in action and will witness the return of Impact head coach Nick De Santis as a player.
SELL-OUT FOR HOME OPENER
The Montreal Impact announced that the historical game at Saputo Stadium, Monday against the Vancouver Whitecaps (3 pm, Radio-Canada, CKAC Sports, TEAM 990, USLlive.com) will be played in front of a sell-out crowd as all 13,034 tickets have been sold. Also, as of today, a total of 5,100 season tickets have been sold for the 2008 season.
“We are thrilled with the public’s positive response to ticket sales this season,” said Montreal Impact and Saputo Stadium Executive Vice President Richard Legendre. “We have also met and surpassed our season package sales objectives. This comes to show once again the undeniable interest for soccer in Quebec, for the Impact as well as for the Saputo Stadium. This is very encouraging, considering that the public hasn’t even seen their new stadium yet.”
