Bleu-blanc-noir confident that it can turn the tide

Far from getting discouraged, Montreal Impact players are eager to return to the field.

Losing 3-1 to the New England Revolution on Saturday was nothing fun, of course. But the Bleu-blanc-noir knows that it can make the required adjustments – and the players are dying to get a chance to prove it.

“In times like these, you wake up in the morning and you can’t wait for training,” said Ambroise Oyongo after Tuesday’s session. “You want days to go by as fast as possible, so that you get to the next game. We’d be happy with a game on Wednesday and a chance to move on from that loss.”

Goalkeeper Evan Bush, for his part, recalled that the Impact had gone through a similar dip in form last summer. But after dropping eight of a possible nine points, the team then put together a six-game unbeaten streak.

According to Bush, this edition of the Impact is even better equipped to turn the tide.

“Back then, we lost a few games, and we were at rock bottom at that point,” said Bush. “There was some tension in the locker room. But I don’t feel that this year. We’re a solid group. I feel like we know what we’re capable of. We know that we can get out of this.”

Added Oyongo: “Last year, we were more solid toward the end, as we got closer to the playoffs. This year, it got better earlier on. We see guys that are motivated, leaders that try and bring everyone together.”
