Back-to-back games this weekend for the Impact

After a perfect month of October for the Montreal Impact Academy teams in the Development Academy, the teams started well in November as well, with two wins and a draw last weekend.


The three teams have one last weekend of competition before the Development Academy Winter Showcase.


This weekend, they will face Beachside Soccer Club and Oakwood Soccer Club in Connecticut. On Saturday, against Beachside, the U15 will play at 10am, the U17 at noon and the U19 at 2:15pm. The day after, against Oakwood, the U15 will play at 10am, the U17 at 12:15pm and the U19 at 2:30pm.

The Impact U15 continues to enjoy a great start to the season, remaining unbeaten in nine games with a 7-0-2 record.


The U17 lost two consecutive games, but since then, Nicolas Gagnon’s team won its three games and remain alone at the top of the Northeast division with a 7-2-0 record.


The Impact U19 is in a tight race with New York City FC for first of the division, a race that looks deemed to go down to the wire. Montreal has a 6-1-0 record while NYCFC has a 7-1-0 record.


The opponent

Beachside’s U17 and U19 teams are in a playoff race, even if it’s early in the season. The U17 are fourth in the Northeast division with a 4-2-1 record and the U19 are fifth with a 2-2-1 record. The U15 Beachside team is having a tougher season, with a 2-5-1 record.


The three Oakwood Soccer Club teams are also in good position. The U19 are just behind the Impact, in third place, with a 3-1-1 record. The U17 are fifth in the division with a 4-3-0 record and the U15 are fourth with a 6-2-1 record. All the teams are in solid playoff position for the moment.


About Beachside Soccer Club

Beachside Soccer Club is located in Connecticut and is affiliated with MLS side New York City FC. Since it was founded in 1994, almost 85% of its players have gone on to play at the college level in the United States.


Among the players that have played for Beachside SC, many have gone on to have professional careers. LAFC midfielder Benny Feilhaber played for Beachside SC in his youth. Kyle Martino, now working as an analyst for NBC Sports, had a stellar career that began at the Connecticut soccer club as well, appearing in over 100 games for MLS side Columbus Crew SC, and also having a stint with the Los Angeles Galaxy. He represented the United States at the international level.


About Oakwood Soccer Club

The club from Portland, Connecticut, was founded in 1980 by Rick Derella. It has a long and impressive list of players that played professionally in the last 30 years.


The one that stands out the most is Johann Smith, who played for Bolton in the English Premier League before joining Toronto FC in 2008. Other than Smith, eight players from Oakwood got MLS contracts.
