ATLANTA 2 IMPACT 2

With the score at 1-0 for the Silverbacks, Sebrango scored his first goal of the game at the 42nd minute, on a voley following a cross from forward Mignane Diouf from the right side. Sebrango scored a second game-tying goal in the last seconds of the match, heading a corner from midfielder Anthony Le Gall behind the goal line.

With his two goals, Sebrango reached the 100 career goals mark in North American second division.

“I am really happy to have accomplished that mark but the point we acquired today is a lot more important for us,” said Sebrango. “This game was important for us and I am happy I was able to help the team today.”

In the second half, the Impact got most of the ball possession and more scoring chances, leading 11-2 in shots.

“We never stopped fighting, we got back in the game and that is the positive aspect of this game,” said Impact head coach and sporting director Nick De Santis. “The first half was difficult, as we struggled defensively. Even though we were losing by a goal in the second half, we reacted well and created many opportunities. We have to keep going, work and find some solutions to go forward.”

“The objective at home is always to get wins so the result tonight is somehow disappointing,” said defender Simon Gatti. “However I think we showed a lot of character tonight. Eduardo played a great game. We must take the positive. It’s always good to add a point.”

The Silverbacks leading goal scorer Matt Horth Atlanta also scored twice today. At the 17th minute, Horth recorded his fifth goal of the season after deflecting a cross on the ground from defender Tyler Ruthven, beating Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush to his left, near the post.

Standing near the penalty spot, Horth scored his second goal of the game, at the 64th minute, on a header from a cross from the left flank from midfielder Raphael Cox.

Impact midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer nearly scored at the 20th minute. After dribbling by two defenders, Kreamalmeyer took a low shot to the far post from inside the 18-yard box that was saved by Silverbacks goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer who dived to his right.

Then, Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush distinguished himself with two key saves at the 35th and 37th minute on shots from Horth and Junior Sandoval.

At the 52nd minute, Mignane Diouf got a scoring opportunity when he dribbed towards the centre of the field and then took a 25-meter shot that Jimmy Maurer stopped after diving to his right.

At the 81st minute, a shot from 20 meters from forward Marco Terminesi, who came in the game for Nevio Pizzolitto at the 76th minute, went a few inches to the right of the Silverbacks goal.

Midfielder Ian Westlake started his first career game with the Impact after joining the team on Friday.

Defender Hicham Aaboubou returned to the starting lineup as centre back, while Hassoun Camara was back to his natural position at midfield.
