Defender scored the game winner on Saturday
CF Montréal defender Alistair Johnston has been named on the MLS Team of the Week. It’s Johnston’s second selection on the MLS best XI this year.
The Canadian international scored the game winner on Saturday against New England in the 72nd minute, giving Montreal the 1-0 win, their sixth consecutive win on the road, tying an MLS record.
It’s also Johnston’s fourth goal of the year, tying a Club record for goals scored by a defender in a season, which was set earlier this year by Zachary Brault-Guillard.
Following the international break. Montreal will be back in action for their last home game of the MLS regular season on Saturday, October 1, at 7:30pm, against D.C. United, at Stade Saputo. Tickets for that game are available here. Before the start of the playoffs, during which Montreal will play at home for the first game, the Bleu-blanc-noir will play its last game of the season in Miami on Sunday, October 9, at 2:30pm, during MLS Decision Day.
