Academie U18 Octobre 2014

The Impact USSDA teams hosted Continental FC Delco at Stade SaputoTurf last weekend, with the U18s winning 3-0 to extend its unbeaten streak to seven games to start the season, while the U16s played to a 3-3 draw.

Alexandar Kulic scored a brace and Jimmy Shammar-Sanon added another to round out the scoring for the home side. Yann-Alexandre Fillion earned the shutout in goal.

“Our cohesion in the first half was good, which brought some interesting scoring chances, two of which I capitalized on,” said Kulic. “In the second half, we got too comfortable, which was giving the other team more confidence. Despite these minor setbacks, we were still dominant in the match and this brings us three points closer to the playoffs.”
The U16s came back to earn the 3-3 result on Saturday, with Esleyder Luarca scoring the game’s first goal, while Tristano Fasulo scored a double of his own, his second the game-tying marker.
“The result is very misleading,” said U16 midfielder Moulay Hamza Kanzi Belghiti. “We were scored on at moments when we failed to stick to basic defensive principles. We also did not defend well on crosses, so we will have to work on that. This game will be a lesson for us as we must maintain a positive attitude and continue to work in training to ensure we don’t make the same mistakes.”

Impact U13
The Impact U13 traveled to Quebec to play a couple of friendlies, falling 2-1 to an all-star team from the 1999/2000 age group, while losing 4-1 to the PhénixU14 AAA
Serge Dinkota, head coach ImpactU13: “The trip to Quebec helped us examine the boy in a different context, for some their first experience of the like. We played two interesting opponents, where the biggest difference was physically. Our main objective is to have the boys translate what they learn in training onto the pitch in a game. We haven’t seen that transfer as often as we would like right now, but when we do, you won’t notice that our opponents are one or two years older.”
Tryouts U18 and U23
The second stage of tryouts took place over the weekend, for two separate age groups. Of the 52 players invited to the second session, seven were invited to train with the U23s and the U18s.
