Under snowy and cold conditions, the Montreal Impact USSDA teams took to the pitch at Saputo Turf to host the New England Revolution last Sunday, in what were the final matches of the first half of the season prior to the Showcase tournament in Florida. The U18s played to a 0-0 draw, while the club’s U16 team fell 1-0.

The Impact U18 extended its unbeaten streak to 10 games, including its seventh straight shutout in its scoreless draw with the Revs.

“We reacted well to the tough conditions,” said goalkeeper David Paulmin. “The cold and the snow did not stop us from performing, but we did lack some finishing around the goal. This game will be essential in re-examining things and working on certain details in order to elevate our game to match our ambitions and we will use this game to prepare for the Showcase tournament in Florida.”

Despite playing to its third straight defeat, a 1-0 loss to the Revs, the Impact under 16 team felt they played better than in their previous two matchups.

“It is always frustrating to lose to an MLS Academy team,” said midfielder Kevin Tran. “We played within our principles of the game and I liked our attitude, but a small mistake at the last minute cost us the match. We had several opportunities to score, but we had trouble putting the ball in the back of the net.”
