In USSDA play, the Impact U18 team managed a 6-1 victory over the Revolution Empire, while the U16s played to a scoreless draw. The U14s were also in action, managing a 1-1 tie in a friendly as all three teams took the field at Saint-Jean-Vianney this past Saturday.

Fasulo scores in Impact U14 draw

The Montreal Impact’s U14 team, which will officially join the USSDA in September, started the festivities off with a 1-1 tie against the Revolution, in the first game of the day. Tristano Fasulo scored the lone goal for the home side.

“I am pleased with the content of our game as we created a number of chances through our strong build up play, good runs and well-timed initiatives,” said U14 head coach Nicolas Gagnon. “With a little more awareness in front of goal and more aggressiveness in our own defensive third, we could have had a better result.”

Impact U16 ranked 3rd

The U16 side played to a similar fate in the second game on the day; however in this case, neither team was able to score despite good chances created by the home side.

“We faced a team that was well-organized defensively,” said U16 head coach Wilfried Nancy. “We weren’t able to find a solution offensively, which would have put us in a good position had we been able to finish our chances that were either saved by the goalkeeper or hit the post. I am satisfied with the effort from the group today, which fought until the very end of the game and played within our system.”

With a record of 9-5-2 and 29 points, the Impact U16 is now third in the North-East Division.

Impact U18 wins 6-1

The first half was tightly contested for the U18s, holding a one goal lead over the Empire, before the home team exploded to a 6-1 victory. Zie Mohamed Dagnogo (2), Heikel Jarras, Abdoulaye Samake, William Thavixay and Guillaume Trudel scored in the win.

“Even though our individual play wasn’t up to par in the first half, the players collectively managed to find a third goal that changed the rest of the game for us,” said U18 head coach Jason DiTullio. “We scored two beautiful goals and were able to translate much of what we did in practice during the week. Now we have a two-week break from competition which will be important to prepare for the final stretch of the season.”

With a record of 9-5-2 and 29 points, the Impact U18 is also third in the North-East Division.

Just like the U18s, the Impact U16 side is immersed in a playoff race, but the younger side will be participating in the adidas Generation Cup in Dallas, Texas, next week.

The two teams will then return to regular season play on April 26 against Albertson SC, in Old Westbury New York.

The U23 team, which did not play last weekend due to the MLS Reserve League game, where five players earned important minutes in a 4-1 victory over the Red Bulls, will play Sunday against Vermont University.
