Academy Report: U16s win but U18s lose to Met Oval Juventus

Impact U16 2013

The Montreal Impact USSDA teams were in action this past weekend at the Saint-Jean-Vianney Sports Complex, in RDP, with the U18 team falling 1-0 to Met Oval Juventus, while the U16s earned a 3-1 victory.

The U16s have reversed their fortune as of late, having lost just once in its last four games by beating Juventus in a comeback effort in the second half.  Jimmy Shammar Sanon, Heikel Jarras and Claudio Di Zazzo scored for the home side in the win.

“We were very cohesive as a group to come back from being down 1-0 in the first half,” said Impact U16 head coach Simon Gatti. “We played together, as a team, and I’m very proud of the guys. We stayed within our principles in a game we may have lost a few months ago, showing that we have grown as a group.”

In the early game, the club’s Under-18 squad played a good first half before frustration kicked in when the team was unable to find the back of the net in the second half, after Met Oval scored in the 56th minute, despite carrying most of the play. The ensuing 30-plus minutes ended in a double ejection (one for each team).
