Academy report – Pair of wins in USSDA

Rapport16mars

The U18 and U16 Impact teams were playing games in their USSDA season last Sunday.

The under 18 team started the day with a 4-1 victory over Empire United. The opponent scored first, in the opening minutes of the game. But Yoann Damet’s team kept its cool and scored twice before halftime, the first goal coming from Alexis Stevens and the second from Moulay Hamza Kanzi-Belghiti. Jimmy Shammar-Sanon added a brace in the second half.

The U16 game, also against Empire United, started a bit slower. At halftime, it was still 0-0. Empire United scored the first goal in the 56th minute, but the Impact replied with three unanswered goals in a 3-1 win. Marques Antoine, Olujimi Aribido and Tristan Resendes scored for the Bleu-blanc-noir.

“We are happy with the win and satisfied to have come back from behind, but we can do better,” explained U16 head coach Nicolas Gagnon. “We showed a lot of qualities, but we need to better manage the change of pace to have success. A positive point is that we were better at this in the last 20 minutes, and it showed with three goals. The guys didn’t quit and it paid off.”

Preparation for Paris

Serge Dinkota’s U13 team is in preparation for the Tournoi international U13 Anastasio Gomez de Bobigny, in France, which will be played from March 26 to 28. Dinkota will go to France only with players born in 2003 to take part of this competition. In the preparation process, intersquad games are played between the 2002 and 2003 players.

FC Montreal back outdoors

Like the first team, FC Montreal’s players are back at the training centre and now practice outdoors. Their second USL season will start on March 25 at 7pm, at the Olympic Stadium, against Bethlehem Steel FC. The game will be open and free to the public. Beforehand, the team will face the Ottawa Fury (NASL) on March 19 in its last preparation game.
