With the Impact’s PDL season in full swing, the U23s have not seen the results they would like in their most recent matchups, going 1-0-3 in its last four games.
The team lost their back-to-back matchups on the road, falling 1-0 to first place CFC Azul on Saturday before suffering a similar fate against Western Mass, the second place team in the Northeast division, on Sunday.
“A disappointing weekend for us in terms of results,” explained U23 head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. “But our game vs Western Mass was played at a high level and our performance was of a high quality. We are starting to see the progression we are making and that the group is going in the right direction.”
On June 10, the Impact had fell 2-1 to the very same Western Mass at Stade Saputo. The Impact U23s then won came against GPS Portland 3-1 on the road June 15, thanks to a brace by Anthony Jackson-Hamel. Frédéric Lajoie-Gravelle scored the other Impact goal.
The U23s now play four consecutive games at home, on the synthetic field at Stade Saputo, in July, with its next matchup against Vermont on July 2 at 5pm. The game is open to the public and admission is free.
Impact U18s make history
The Impact U18 team made history this week, going undefeated in the group stage of the first round of the playoffs and punching its ticket for the final round, with the top eight teams all of North America vying for the USSDA championship.
From June 23 to 26, the Impact topped the Chicago Magic PSG 3-1, tied Real Colorado 1-1 and bested the LA Galaxy 3-2 to finish top of its group.
The U18s will fly out to Seattle to take on the Sounders Academy on July 7 in the next round.
As for the U16s, they came second in their group with a 2-1-0 record, missing out on the final round to the Strikers FC, who were one point better (2-0-1).
