Academy report: Impact U21 fall in CSL final

Impact U21 Team Morton Lefevre Beaulieu

The hopes of winning a Canadian Soccer League title for the Montreal Impact U21 side were dashed on Saturday as a late goal by Toronto Croatia decided the championship game 1-0, at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke, Ontario.


Toronto’s Marin Vulemilovic-Grgic struck the winner for Toronto Croatia in the 83rd minute, taking a pass from Hayden Fitzwilliams to score from 16 yards out into the top corner of the net, passed Montreal goalkeeper Jason Beaulieu.


The Impact U21 had an edge in the first half with missed chances by midfielder Dominique Morin and defender Kai Morton.

Academy U16 and U18


The Montreal Impact U16 and U18 teams had a difficult weekend hosting back-to-back double headers at Saint-Jean-Vianney Sports Complex.


On Saturday, both Impact youth teams tied Westchester FC 0-0 in their respective matchups. The home field advantage was not much kinder on Sunday for the Academy as the U18s fell to Albertson FC 1-0, while the U16 squad suffered a 4-1 loss.
