Academy report – First USSDA trip of the season

Sept30

The Montreal Impact faced BW Gottschee in USSDA play over the weekend, in the Academy’s first road trip of the season.

Unfortunately, the U18s lost for the first time this year, by a 1-0 score.

“It was a bad first half where we were a bit lazy,” said interim U18 head coach Simon Gatti. “Our pace was too slow and we were playing a good team with a good attitude. The second half was much better, but the goal didn’t come. It’s a good lesson for the group.”

The younger group won its game 2-1. After giving up an early goal, Tristano Fasulo and Protais Mutambala scored in the U16s win.

Both teams will be in action on Sunday, October 4, against Oakwood Soccer Club, at the Montreal Impact training facilities. The U18s will play at 11am and the U16s will take the field at 1:30pm.

The Impact U14 and U13 also in action

The U14 and U13 Impact teams played the Oakwood teams in their age category.

“We played an interesting game where we saw our players’ creativity often, where we had control of the game because of our quick ball movement, but also because in the second half, our defensive transition helped us get the ball back quickly,” said Impact U14 head coach Nicolas Gagnon. “We would have liked to create more chances and be more balanced in attack, but there’s more positive than negative aspects from this game.”
