The Montreal Impact U21s play the York Region Shooters on Sunday, October 21 at Claude Robillard Sports Complex at 2pm (ET) in its first ever semi-final appearance in the Canadian Soccer League. The game is open to the public and admission is free.

A win by the Impact (2nd seed) over York (5th) would put the Academy through to the finals of the CSL, set for Saturday, October 27 at Centennial Stadium, in Etobicoke, Ontario versus the winner of the other semi-final matchup between Toronto Croatia (1st) and the Serbian White Eagles (6th).

The U21s won its quarter-final match 2-0 last Sunday, at Stade Saputo, against TFC Academy. The game saw two goals from Montreal’s Mircea Ilcu, which secured the victory for the home side and prolonged the Impact’s winning streak to 10 consecutive games.

The Shooters (9-2-11) have been tough competition for the Impact this season. In the two regular season matchups between the clubs, the Impact managed four points. The first game, on Sunday May 13, finished in a 0-0 draw, before the Impact came away with a 1-0 victory, Sunday September 30.

Goalkeeper Jason Beaulieu earned the shutout in the QF, adding to the nine shutouts he had during the regular season.

Midfielder Wandrille Lefevre led the team in scoring in the regular season with seven goals in 17 games.

First team defender Karl W. Ouimette, who is finishing the season with the U21s, midfielder Maxim Tissot, defender Amine Meftouh and forward Mircea Ilcu all have experience with a successful playoff run in the CSL as the four were a part of the last edition of the Trois-Rivieres Attak team that won the CSL championship in 2009, prior to the establishment of the Academy.

Impact U16 and U18

The Montreal Impact Academy U16/ U18 teams will be facing Revolution Empire next weekend, on Saturday October 20, at St-Jean-de-Vianney Sports Complex. The U18’s will play first at 11 am (ET), followed by the U16’s at 1:30pm (ET). The game is open to the public and admission is free.

The U16’s escaped with only a tie from two games in two days on the weekend of October 6-7. They fell to BW Gottschee Academy 3-1 last Saturday in their first game and then were able to salvage a 3-3 tie in their following game against Metropolitan Oval on Sunday.

The U18’s had a little more success on that same weekend, earning four points. They tied BW Gottschee Academy 0-0 on Saturday and then bounced back to earn a convincing 3-0 win over Metropolitan Oval the following day.
